Elephant Gallery is excited to announce Myth and Melanin, our first exhibition with painter and sculptor XPayne.
Myth and Melanin is a collection of paintings and drawings inspired by mythology, African symbols, and personal events from the artist’s life.
XPayne synthesizes these disparate elements to create a new mythology that reflects modern life. The work is epic in size and subject matter while also being accessible through its bright, colorful aesthetic and use of long-standing visual symbols.
The collection reveals a creative avenue of self-empowerment and introspection on life as a creative Black American.
