Seasons of the Sun: Jennifer Haston

4 September - 31 October 2026

Elephant Gallery is very excited to present "Seasons of the Sun," an exhibition of new work by Nashville fiber-artist Jennifer Haston. We've long admired this multitalented quilter/printmaker/collector/gardener. We were honored to include her in "Quilty Pleasures" in 2024 and can't wait to present a collection of Haston's work this Fall.

From the artist: There is a delicate space between the manicured and the untamed. Nature has the capabilities to disregard boundaries. The wilds of gardening weave into quilting using the same combination of physical work, experimentation, time, and observation. The continuum of morning light to evening drama, from winter browns to summer green, all wind up on the sewing table. It’s about pushing patterns on a visual journey and taking trips around loved land belonging to the gardener. Quilts lay out in a utilitarian way, and playfully mimic the rooted, the harvested, the season of the sun.

Since 2019 Haston has been an instructor at Friends Life Community, a local non-profit that provides support, education and community for adults with disabilities. Alongside the main show, in the Elephant Hallway Gallery, we will present an exhibition by Friends Life artists. More details on the artists and their work will be forthcoming.

Jennifer Haston is a fiber artist based in Nashville, TN who primarily works with quilting.  Influenced by her garden, her textile work is a space for wildish care, playful experiments, and an aesthetic escape. Her dad was raised on a farm where family quilt-making was an essential nightly routine and it was important to him that Jennifer learned to sew as a child. What began as a mandatory skill for Haston has transformed in time into a practice for living a life that connects the outside to the inside.
